Elbphil­harmonie Jazz Academy

Musical Part

For your application we need a recording of one arrangement of one of the twelve jazz standards down below, as well as of one of your own compositions in mp3 format. (Preferably with rhythm section, if not possible feasible, an Aebersold play-along is also possible; both titles shouldn't be longer than 4:30min.)

• Lecturers: Yaron Herman (piano) Theo Croker (trumpet), Matt Brewer (bass), Ziv Ravitz (drums), Julia Hülsmann (composition), Melissa Aldana (saxophone)
• Day lecturers: tba
• The organizer bears the cost for the workshop (lecturers etc.) and organizes accommodation for the duration of the Academy. The organizer bears the costs for the accommodation for seven nights (incl. breakfast).

Conditions of participation

• The Elbphilharmonie Jazz Academy is organized by HamburgMusik gGmbH.
• Participation age is between 18 and 30 years.
• To enter the Academy you have to have several years of musical training in one of the above instrument with the aim of professionalism.
• A total of fifteen participants will be admitted to the workshop.
• Applicants are chosen by a jury of experts, that consists of lecturers of the Academy as well as employees of the Elbphilharmonie.
• The decision of the jury will be communicated to the participants in mid-March 2021.
• The "Elbphilharmonie Jazz Academy" is held in English.
• Participation in the Academy includes participation in the workshops and the final concert hat the Main Hall of the Elbphilharmonie.
• As part of the Elbphilharmonie Jazz Academy photos and recordings are made, which are published by the organizer to document and promote offers from the Elbphilharmonie and Laeiszhalle.
• With registration all conditions of participation are accepted. The organizer reserves the right to revoke or change parts or contents of the registration and the conditions of participation.
